City Deer Hold Meeting
Early Saturday morning city deer held a meeting concerning The City of Jamestown. It seems that the City Deer have taken notice of recent headlines concerning their growing population. The deer met in the clearing near Bush School on Pardee Avenue. Long time Jamestown Buck Cainy led the meeting off by acknowledging there has been a human problem within the City of Jamestown since the late 1800’s. “Every few years the Jamestown humans bring up the issue that the deer population is growing and becoming a nuisance,” Cainy went on, “this past year has been different because of Covid-19. 2020 was a very successful year because the humans were, for the most part, quarantined, but we are slowly going back to “normal””.
“I had my two fawns behind the Benson residence on the South Side and we were just eating apples which had fallen on the ground. A light came on and Mrs. Benson came out yelling at us…” said Abie, a Jamestown Doe and long time resident.
The deer went on to discuss ways they could live and coexist with the Jamestown Humans. “Maybe if we had more deer cross walks and used the sidewalks less they would leave us alone” stated Buttercup who has grown up in the woods near East Virginia Blvd.
The deer group concluded the meeting by scheduling another meeting in the future. Cainy closed the meeting by stating, “no matter what the future holds, we can’t back down and move out of our environment; I don’t know why the humans are against us.” He then pooped, hopped across English street and entered the woods.
