Biden Releases Chickens From Strategic Reserve To Curb Chicken Wing Prices
The unprecedented release of 1 million chickens a week over the next 12 months from the Strategic Chicken Reserve aims to make up for the shortage of chicken wings in America. President Biden on Thursday night announced that he will release 1 million chickens a week from the nation’s Strategic Chicken Reserve to try to offset rising chicken wing prices in America. “You can rest assured America, I like Chicken Wings as much as the next guy, I took this step to help all Americans.” The president went on to state, “It’s one thing to have to pay at the pump, it’s another thing to pay for chicken wings.”
The price of a single 10 piece order of “wing in” Buffalo Wings has risen from roughly $7.99 per order (mid 2021) to $14.99 per order (as of April 2022). This almost 67% increase has Americans up in arms about their chicken wings. Biden’s release is the biggest chicken withdrawal in the reserve’s 50 year history. White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki told reporters “It is unfortunate that the prolonged conflict in the Ukraine is driving up the cost of chicken wings and gas. The president is doing everything in his power to alleviate the strain this may have on Americans. We are also working with genetic engineers to see if hatching 4 winged chickens is a possibility, this would literally cut prices in half.”
